Review the Latest SQL Server Security Updates

It’s been about a year since I had a post related to SQL Server updates, and since there were new updates released about two weeks ago, I thought it was worth shouting out a heads up to anyone that might have missed them.

Keeping Up-to-Date With Updates

Where can you stay on top of what updates are released and when? Below are two options.

Check the SQL Server Blog at techcommunity.microsoft.com for details and links for updates. There are posts for each version (SQL Server 2022, SQL Server 2019, etc.) so you can read up on what applies to your environment.

Another convenient option to keep up with updates is to check https://sqlserverupdates.com/.

Choose the version you’re interested in and that will take you to the more detailed Microsoft article for the update.

Planning Ahead

Take some time as you’re planning the week ahead to carve out a chunk of time to review the latest updates and plan accordingly. Backups are important. Performance is important. Keeping your SQL Server updated is important, too.
